3 ways to make your home’s exterior pop for spring

(NC) Spring means most of us will be spending more time enjoying the outdoors. This serves as a great opportunity to invest time and energy into sprucing up your home’s exterior and outdoor living areas.

Sharon Grech, Benjamin Moore colour and design expert, shares her top tips on how to add curb appeal to your home’s exterior while increasing the overall value of your home.

Repaint your front and garage doors. Repainting your exterior doors is a great way to freshen up the outside of your home. Adding a statement colour is even more uplifting.

“Spring is the perfect time to rejuvenate your front door with colour, and if a few seasons down the line you decide it’s time for a change you’re just a few coats away from a brand-new look,” says Grech. “Benjamin Moore Aura Grand Entrance is perfect for painting doors because it is specially formulated to retain colour integrity and gloss, while bringing rich colour and exceptional durability to your doors and trim.

Update exterior home accessories. The outside of your home is the first thing people see when they come to visit. That’s why it’s key to make sure your exterior hardware and lighting look fresh. A brand-new door handle, mailbox and light fixture will complement your fresh coat of paint and make your home feel brand new again.

Select hardware that coordinates with the overall style and colour scheme of your home. “Warmer metals such as brass and bronze continue to be on trend, so consider updating your door handle, knocker or mail slot with this designer favourite,” suggests Grech.

Create an inviting entryway with florals and potted plants. Nothing says welcome like a well-maintained arrangement of potted plants and seasonal florals. To ensure guests have an impactful first impression, coordinate your pots, containers and plant materials with the style of your façade. Splurge on several shades of green for a more contemporary look. “Tall topiaries are great for bringing height and a classic presence to any entryway.”
