Protect sensitive skin from laundry irritants
(NC) As many as 55 per cent of Canadian consumers identify themselves as having sensitive skin. With statistics like that, odds are that someone in your household needs to be especially aware of everyday household products. When it comes to laundry, finding a balanced product that is both tough on stains and gentle on the skin is important, but can be confusing. Follow these simple tips to get both:
- Use a detergent that is dermatologist tested. Regular laundry detergents often contain ingredients that can be hard on our skin. The residue left behind on clothing can cause your body to react.
- Baking soda is a pure and natural ingredient that is a gentle alternative to harsh chemicals, especially for those with sensitivities.
- If you have a family member with sensitive skin, try using a dye-free formula. For example, Arm & Hammer tells us that its laundry detergent is the only brand with the tough cleaning power of baking soda – and Sensitive Scents gives clothes a fresh scent as well.
