Volunteer program assists with tax returns
(NC) Do you need help filing your income tax and benefit return? The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has a solution that might be the answer.
If you have a modest income, and a simple tax situation, community organization volunteers may be able to help you through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
The CVITP is a joint effort between the CRA and community organizations. The organizations host 'tax preparation clinics' and arrange for volunteers to prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals who are unable to prepare their own. The service is free of charge and helps many individuals with modest incomes, and a simple tax situation. By filing a return, you will receive the credits and benefits to which you are entitled.
More information and to find out if the program applies to you, can be found at www.cra.gc.ca/volunteer.
