Free tax preparation services make a difference

(NC) Certified General Accountants are contributing to communities across the province by helping low-income earners file their taxes through a free tax return program.

This supportive program is available to individuals with a gross income of less than $25,000 or families with a household income of less than $30,000. The initiative aims to ensure that low-income earners, including qualified seniors and people with disabilities, have local access to tax experts providing free tax returns. CGAs file thousands of free tax returns through the program each year and Tax Preparation Service centres are currently scheduled at nearly 40 locations across Ontario until April 30, 2014Appointments are scheduled in advance and those who meet the requirements are asked to bring:

• 2013-14 personalized tax return package (received from the Canada Revenue Agency);
